Overall, the game has some very interesting mechanics but it`s all very rough and there isn`t a ton of content.Embrace the challenge of a roguelike deckbuilder with unique mechanics from the developers of Faeria and Richard Garfield, creator of Magic: The Gathering™. Independent Gems means you don`t find half-useful cards that need vital upgrades, and get an extra strategy layer on upgrading/crafting. It also means you get a favorite pair and that makes the game less replayableīonus every 5 cards incentivize drafting cards Offers great customization and an extra layer of strategy in combat. There`s a bunch of enemies i could have easily killed first try had i known their attack pattern.ģ squares movement and 17 moves to explore give a nice freedom. (it saves after every action) Save scumming saves a ton of time while learning. I've not tested it more than once but it seems like it does an autosave at the start of any turn, the game slows down a significant bit at that stage, which is a fine compensation. I expect this to be alpha issue as well.Īnd for THE BEST designed feature of the game - you can't redo combats by exiting the game. It also brings me to the worst problem IMO - you can't see your own deck, draw pile or discard pile in combat. It's a good feature but I was given no explanation as to why it happened. That said, I did set up an infinite with draw+power generation but after the third use, my draw card just did not draw itself anymore. My current worry is that the game might promote card/gem synergies too much, making you chase broken combos such as dead branch+corruption or self-forming clay, blue candle, juggernaut and necronomicurse. You basically look for gems to socket into cards to upgrade them with set values of the gem, such as making them cheaper, stronger or do miscellanous stuff. I think much of my longevity with the game comes down to the upgrading system, if it turns out to be good or not. It's pretty funny that I recognize some of the art assets from other games though. While it is mechanically and thematically similar to StS it feels unique enough to me, much like RTS games of the 90's were very much alike yet different. Been playing for several hours today never gotten past act 3 yet.
